Parking Cards

Whether you are a driver or a passenger you are entitled to a Disabled Person’s Parking Card (which includes the EU logo). The cost of thisis €25 or €50 if you need to replace a lost card. The card is belonging to the person and not the car allowing persons with a disability to park in disabled parking spaces. How do I know if I qualify? If your mobility is affected by your disability then you qualify. This includes people who are registered as blind and unable to park the car themselves.

Also if you have a Primary Medical Certificate from the HSE you qualify but you must apply for a card. The only stipulation is thatit is not given out to persons under 5 years of age. When travelling abroad The Parking Card can be used in all other EU countries and if you venture to the US or Canada you should observe the motoring laws or restrictions on parking. Where to apply you must state your disability and how it affects your mobility in writing enclosing a stamped addressed envelope. If you do not have a Primary Medical Certificate the form must be completed by the Gardai and your local GP.
