Driving Lesson. Mirrors
Not so long ago there were only 2 mirrors on a car. Now all modern cars have 3 mirrors. The reason is to allow the driver see all round behind the vehicle. Checking the mirrors has for some drivers been a chore and surprisingly enough many drivers don’t check their mirrors at all.
So how unsafe is this?
Has a vehicle ever pulled out in front of you from a parked position and you have said,"they never even saw me"? Well if they had checked their mirrors they probably would have.
Have you ever moved off after being stopped in traffic and just as you do a cyclist or motor bike whizzes by you and you get a shock. You ask yourself "where did they come from"?
The correct way to check your mirrors is before you change speed or position on the road. Make sure that your mirrors are set to give you the best posible view of the area behind you and to the sides. This will greatly reduce the potential risks to both yourself and other road users. Try it and see the difference!
Tip: Check all three mirrors before moving off in traffic.
Check at least two mirrors when changing position, for example turning left or right.
Always check the mirror in the direction you are turning into last as this is the most dangerous area.
Good luck
