How To Change Gear Correctly
This video clip will demonstrate how to correctly and smoothly change gear in your car. It demonstartes block changing which saves time and fuel, and the cupping or palming methods of changing gear. Turning Right on Large Double Roundabouts

Moving Off At An Angle
In the video clip below the driver is explaing one of the best ways to move off when the road is narrow and you there is traffic in front of you. Practice this manoeuvre in very quiet areas before trying it in traffic.

Overtaking A Large Vehicle Safely
In this video clip the driver is showing you way of overtaking a large vehicle on a single lane carriageway. Remember only ever overtake if it is neccessary and if only if you have a safe distance ahead to complete the manoeuvre safely. If your car is not very powerful do not take the chance, always be sure, before you go.

The Reverse Around The Corner – To The Left

This manoeuvre is compulsory on the Driving Test. In the video clip below the driver will show you one of the ways in which to complete the reverse to the left correctly. The most important aspects of the manoeuvre are explained and on the driving test the tester will be looking for 3 key points.

(1) Competency – your ability to complete the reverse left turn without undo effort or steering while still maintaining the correct distance from the kerb.

(2) Observation – your ability to see all round the car so as to avoid harsh braking or becoming a danger to other road users.

(3) Yield Right Of Way – Stopping if a hazard approaches from any direction and is coming towards you. Remember you do not have the right of way when reversing.

The Turnabout – (or 3 Point Turn – This term is no longer used)
On the driving test you wil be asked to do a turnabout. The turnabout was previously know as the 3 point turn. The difference is the manoeuvre does not have to be completed in 3 turns. Generally it is completed between 3 and 5 turns, depending on the size of the road and vehicle. In the video below the driver explains one way of how to correctly complete the manoeuvre. Observation, comptetancy and yield right of way are the 3 key points the tester will look out for. Like the reverse around the corner practice the turnabout in a quiet area before trying it in an area with traffic. Good Luck.

The Hill Start
On the Driving Test You will be asked to do a hill start. This manoeuvre allows the tester see if you can move off safely without rolling back. You may also have to move off downhill also. In the video below the driver shows one way of correctly moving off both uphill and downhill safely. There are other methods but consult with your driving instructor for alternatives.
